Crisis Control Ministry's Client Choice Food Pantries are an integral component of our organization. Our clients are able to select the foods that their family will eat.
Many residents of Forsyth County face hunger, and we are working to help alleviate some of this local problem. When a family is in financial crisis, providing a substantial food order for them allows hunger to be alleviated for their family, but also allows them to turn financial resources to paying other critical expenses.

Senior Services Inc
Meals-on-Wheels Program provides a hot nutritious lunch each weekday for Forsyth county's home bound elderly. This service helps provide necessary nutrition and social contact for the elderly, enabling them to remain in their own homes. Also provides frozen meals to home bound seniors who meet the criteria for this program. Every two weeks eligible seniors receive 10 frozen meals that are packaged and ready to be reheated. The cost of a meal is $5.00 and participants are encouraged to share in the cost of service. However, no one is denied services owing to an inability to contribute. A waitlist does exist for many routes.

At West End Ministries, we are committed to serving the community through the Food Ministry. The Community Meal is a hot meal served weekly on Thursday evenings. On Friday mornings, neighbors can receive loaves of bread to help stretch their grocery budget. East Stokes Outreach Ministry is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization Food Pantry and Thrift Store. Our Food Pantry operates 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. People who find themselves in a crisis situation may come to our office and receive a crisis amount of food that will last approximately 7 days. They may receive food 6 times a year. However, if they are 62 or older, they may receive food every month because of the difficulty of living on a fixed income. We pay up to $100.00 of a cutoff notice on electric bills. We can offer up to $150.00 for fuel during the winter months when funds permit. Financial services can be received no more than once every 6 months. Open Door Ministries was established in 1995, as a merger of High Point Urban Ministry and Open Door Shelter. High Point Urban Ministry was begun in 1969 and provided assistance for food, clothing, and financial needs. Urban Ministry also operated a soup kitchen that served a lunch meal (Monday - Friday). Open Door Shelter started in 1987 and provided a homeless shelter for men, women and children. The Father’s Table program at Open Door Ministries serves three meals a day seven days a week to the homeless and less fortunate in our community. There are no stipulations as to who is served as we truly offer an “open door†to those who are hungry.

Drive-thru Food Pantries
Since the start of the coronavirus, drive-thru food pantries have become the safest, most efficient way to provide food to our struggling neighbors.
Who can visit a drive-thru pantry?
Drive-thru pantries are open for anyone who needs help getting food. There are no eligibility criteria. Visitors do not need to provide any identification or income statements.
Only two piece of information is asked
- You Zipcode, and
- Number of people in their family.
You dont need to take appointment. Drive-thru pantries are first-come, first served so plan to arrive early.
How do drive-thru pantries actually work?
There are lot of volunteers help at Drive-thru food pantries. While not all drive-thru pantries operate in the same way, here�s how most work:
Staff and volunteers direct visitors to the parking area.
Visitors pull up to the pantry in their car and are usually guided into a clearly marked queue. As people move through the pantry, staff will continue to move the cars forward to get everyone through as quickly and safely as possible.
Checkin.
You are required to fill some information for Pantry's recording keeping.
Food is loaded into the cars.
Pre-packed bags of food, usually full of shelf-stable items like pasta, canned fruit and peanut butter, as well as fresh produce and meats are loaded by volunteers into the trunk of the car.

Pet Food Pantry helps people who are:

Tips for Visiting a Food Pantry
Show up early.
This is very important. This means you will be first in line and have a chance to get the items that are sought after and in limited quantities such as fresh produce, dairy and frozen food.
You don't usually need to show up hours ahead of time but coming at least an hour before is usually a good idea.
Remember all documentation.
Many food pantries require documentation to prove who you are, and in some cases, where you live.

Use several food banks.
Using more than one food bank (when available) is smart because you may be able to get something at one that you may not get at another.

Go on different days of the week.
