Church Food Pantry
A number of churches around Hillsborough, Florida have food pantries for those in their neighborhoods who are in need of food items.
Churches operate with food donations gathered and deliver to the food pantry nearest you by individuals using food drives.

We have located 30 Church Food Pantry locations in Hillsborough, Florida which provides a wide array of services. We have partnered so you can also check your eligibility.
Forest Hills United Methodist Church
Forest Hills we have one local ongoing mission, our Shepherd’s Way Food Pantry serving our local community. In addition, we engage in a variety of activities to serve the hungry, the homeless, and the underpriviledged, involving our children and youth in these important outreach projects.
Shepherd’s Way Food Pantry provides commodities at no cost to low-income families. Our pantry is open every other Tuesday and you can link to the church calendar to verify which Tuesdays the Food Pantry will be open.
Registration is easy. You may qualify by meeting the income guidelines, or by participating in other Federal programs such as Food Stamps, SSI, Medicaid, and others. Participants must live in Hillsborough County.
In addition, every Tuesday afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. we host a farmers market in the back parking lot.

First Presbyterian Church Port Richey
We at First Presbyterian believe that one of our duties as followers of Jesus Christ is to care for our fellow human beings without prejudice of race, creed, color, national origin, ideology, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. As disciples of Jesus Christ we welcome to our community all who struggle in this human venture.
During food distribution, people are welcomed to come and choose the items they like to eat and are given several well-balanced nutritional meals every visit. In conjunction with the food distribution ministry, First Presbyterian Church of Port Richey, Florida, also serves a weekly hot meal to the community. All are invited and no one has to prove a need. We feed all who come to our door.
Last but not least, we are equipped to address the spiritual and pastoral needs of all who come for food. Under the guidance of The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey G. Guild, a retired Air Force Chaplain and Presbyterian Church (USA) minister, volunteers are available to be with those in need. Our volunteers receive some training to equip them to listen, pray, and recognize referral needs. We believe that religion is a personal choice, and people are free to partake of our counseling, prayer, and worship services as offered and food is in no way contingent on attending a worship service or hearing a sermon.

Catholic Charities in Hillsborough, Florida are open to families on a first-come, first-serve basis. The centers operate during normal business hours, and provide walk-ins with groceries, food boxes, and items to prepare a meal.

Saint Timothy Catholic Church
We the people of St. Timothy Parish, seek to become a bright beacon of faith in Christ by fostering a family community in a loving and spiritual environment in which we may grow in service and knowledge of God.
St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) embraces all works of charity and justice which includes any form of help that alleviates suffering or deprivation and promotes human dignity and personal integrity in all their dimensions. Members observe the utmost confidentiality in the provision of material and any other type of support.
What do we do:
• Gather monthly to pray, read the Lord’s word, reflect and share Vincentian experiences in serving the poor.
• Provide person to person contact through home visits
• Visit those in jail to listen, comfort and encourage them through song, prayer and bringing them the Holy Eucharist
• Provide financial assistance when possible – funds are paid directly to the service providers
• Provide information on additional private and government support services where appropriate
• Referrals for clothing and furniture to the SVDP Thrift Store
• Food drives to stock the SVDP Pantry
• Food Pantry open on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
• Food baskets for needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter
• Facilitate Parish Adopt-A-Family Christmas Gift Drive
• Contribute to the SVDP Poor Box

Abe Brown Ministries (ABM)
Food Pantry program distributes food the last two Fridays of each month with special distributions for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Recipients are pre-qualified through both Abe Brown Ministries’ (ABM) criteria and U.S. Department and Agriculture (USDA) standards. Requirements:
Recipients must be at least 18 years old
Recipients must live below the poverty line and meet the standards of USDA assistance

The food pantry provides food on the 2nd Saturday of the Month. We will be giving out meats, canned and dry goods, drinks, and snack items. In order to receive items families must be registered. Registration will begin at 08:30 am and last until 10:00 am. Anyone after 10 am will not be able to receive items from the food pantry. We will start distributing the food boxes to registered families at 09:30 am until 11:30 am.

Good Samaritan Mission
Good Samaritan Mission holds weekly adult education classes. Each class is typically ½ hour long and at the end of class each student receives a token. This token is turned in at La Tiendita (The Little Store) for a grocery bag that may be filled with food and toiletries of the student’s choice. Students may also choose to save their tokens for our Christmas Blessings Outreach event, share them with friends and family or keep them for a time of greater need.
Classes vary every week, but may include topics such as: Bible, cooking/nutrition, emergency preparedness, finance, health, immigration information, occupational safety, parenting, sewing, ESL, GED, computer and hair-cutting. We strive to offer classes that are relevant to the issues that our population faces. Several community agencies (for example, the Red Cross) are generous enough to present information to our students on a regular basis.

Amazing Love Ministries, Inc.
Amazing Love Ministries, Inc. was founded by Barbara and Jim Killeen in March, 2005. It has grown from feeding 20 homeless people in downtown Tampa to feeding 150-200 people.We serve every Monday evening at 7:00 PM at 2801 North 17th Street, in Ybor City. The feeding is served and supported by volunteers from many churches in the Tampa Bay area. Besides a hot meal and drinks, people are also given a bag lunch to take with them. The ministry provides many of the items that people need to live on the street: clothing, backpacks, shoes, blankets, toiletries, etc. The main purpose of the ministry is to bring the good news of Jesus to the lost and hurting. There is praise and worship and a message given each week after the meal by different volunteers. The ministry has a vision for a future drop-in center near downtown where people can take showers, do laundry, store belongings, and receive other services. Everyone who desires to serve the Lord by serving our brothers and sisters on the street is invited to join us any time.

Across the country one in six people struggles with hunger that’s 50 million Americans. Of the 509,000 people in West Central Florida who are unsure where their next meal will come from, Feeding America Tampa Bay provided food last year to more than 400,000 people. Our 10 county service area in West Central Florida includes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco, Hernado, Citrus, Sumter, Highlands, Hardee and Manatee counties. As a food bank, Feeding America Tampa Bay is a resource to 600 approved charities that run some type of feeding program. These include soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters, and Kids Cafe sites. This agency partner network is a very efficient way to get food to those in need according to need, and it is our primary means of distributing food.

St. Anne Community Outreach Food Pantry
The St. Anne Community Outreach Food Pantry has been in existence for approximately 16 years. It is located at 106 11th Avenue NE, in Ruskin, Florida, on the east side of the old church, in 2/3rds of a three-car garage. There is no running water, and only a window air conditioner. The doors and windows are open on Wednesdays when we distribute the food. It is our goal to help feed the homeless and needy in our area. We distribute food every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12 PM. We distribute food to over 240 individual families monthly. Some come 4 times per month which would put our distribution service at about 1,000 or more. We presently have over 500 families registered to receive food from our food pantry. The food pantry operates with all volunteer help. There are no paid employees.

Our food pantry ministers to the physical, as well as spiritual needs of the impoverished in our community. We provide families with a 2 - 3 day supply of food, based on the size of their household. Trinity Cafe
Trinity Cafe has been a beacon of hope and compassion in the Tampa Bay community since 2001. Trinity Cafe serves more than 260 hot, nutritious meals each and every day, including holidays. Anyone who comes to our door is welcome – without question or qualification. Since Trinity Cafe first began, it has served more than 892,000 meals. Nutritious meals are served to homeless, hungry, and working poor. The meals are prepared by a professional chef and served by volunteer servers. The guests sit at cloth covered tables set with china dishes and silverware. They are asked for nothing in return – no mandatory religious services or counseling or work.

Drive-thru Food Pantries
Since the start of the coronavirus, drive-thru food pantries have become the safest, most efficient way to provide food to our struggling neighbors.
Who can visit a drive-thru pantry?
Drive-thru pantries are open for anyone who needs help getting food. There are no eligibility criteria. Visitors do not need to provide any identification or income statements.
Only two piece of information is asked
- You Zipcode, and
- Number of people in their family.
You dont need to take appointment. Drive-thru pantries are first-come, first served so plan to arrive early.
How do drive-thru pantries actually work?
There are lot of volunteers help at Drive-thru food pantries. While not all drive-thru pantries operate in the same way, here�s how most work:
Staff and volunteers direct visitors to the parking area.
Visitors pull up to the pantry in their car and are usually guided into a clearly marked queue. As people move through the pantry, staff will continue to move the cars forward to get everyone through as quickly and safely as possible.
Checkin.
You are required to fill some information for Pantry's recording keeping.
Food is loaded into the cars.
Pre-packed bags of food, usually full of shelf-stable items like pasta, canned fruit and peanut butter, as well as fresh produce and meats are loaded by volunteers into the trunk of the car.

Who are eligible for Pet Food Pantry
Pet Food Pantry helps people who are:

Tips for Visiting a Food Pantry
Show up early.
This is very important. This means you will be first in line and have a chance to get the items that are sought after and in limited quantities such as fresh produce, dairy and frozen food.
You don't usually need to show up hours ahead of time but coming at least an hour before is usually a good idea.
Remember all documentation.
Many food pantries require documentation to prove who you are, and in some cases, where you live.
This is to make sure people are not coming more than they are allowed or using fake names to do so. Call ahead of time to find out what documentation is needed.
It's just your photo ID and a piece of mail that verifies your address.
Use several food banks.
Using more than one food bank (when available) is smart because you may be able to get something at one that you may not get at another.
For instance, one may have a deal with a local gardener that gives them their extras. This may mean this food bank has more produce.
Eligible for other programs?
Ask your Department of Social Services office if you are eligible for other assistance programs to supplement your household’s food supply.
They can easily tell you if you can apply for WIC (Women and Infant Children), USDA Commodities or SNAP(Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits.

If you have special needs for infants or special diets, the pantries may be able to assist you.
Many times, they can help with diapers, baby formula, baby food, personal hygiene products, and even special diet items like gluten free or sugar free foods.
Go on different days of the week.
Depending on the food pantry, they may be open only one or two days a week or they may be open all seven days. When you have a choice, going midweek is often best as it is less crowded.
