The Seniors program in San Jose is one of fun and fellowship. In addition to the daily lunch, seniors have great opportunities to participate in scheduled trips, costume parties, bingo, games, Zumba, reading and television.

Meals served daily Monday through Friday. Suggested $3.00 contribution for seniors, 60 years and older, or use a Meal Card, cost $30.00 for 11 meals. Guest are required to pay a fee of $8.00, 59 years and younger.

Activities;

-Transportation is provided to a local store. Our bus driver picks them up from our Senior Center and takes them to the store where they shop for about one hour. Afterwards, they are taken to the Senior Center for lunch.
-In addition, about 50-60 Brown Bags (groceries) are handed out each week.
-Seniors exercise every Monday morning with a Zumba trainer.
-Seniors play bingo on Tuesdays and Fridays. They can win food items, plants, and flowers.
-Seniors take trips to places such as San Juan Bautista, Sausalito, Monterey, San Francisco Wharf, Half Moon Bay, etc.
-Holidays are filled with special activities, like the short program included with lunch for Mother's Day, the BBQ on Father's Day, birthday recognition, a Halloween costume party, and Thanksgiving Day lunch.

St. Paul Community Food Pantry & Helen Hooks Clothes Closet program provides clothe of all type (infant, children to adults – clothing for job interviews too!) for free and the community pantry offers fresh vegetables and non-perishable foods.

The True Vine Baptist Church Food Ministry is a group of volunteers dedicated to serving and meeting the needs of the community in East San Jose and surrounding areas. Our mission is to meet an ever growing needs in our community.

The Food Ministry prepares boxes of food, donated by Second Harvest each Friday from 9AM to 12PM. Please call to confirm hours before coming to the pantry.

Farm Drive has partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide food for needy families. Faithful volunteers show up at Hillside to unload a semi loaded with food. Volunteers help unload, sort, bag, and put the food into carts for families. Food distribution is on the first Tuesday of the month from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M.

The Acts of Mercy ministry provides a hot meal, clothes and groceries every Saturday evening, in the Family Life Center, for the needy in our community. We focus on feeding them spiritually and physically and providing clothing, shoes and other supplies.

The St. Christopher Food Pantry serves families in need who live within our Parish boundaries. Families who have registered with the Outreach Office may select two bags of groceries per month.

Our food pantry provides food to meet basic nutritional needs for individuals and families in need. Our clients are children, adults or senior citizens with limited or no income, who simply have fallen on hard times or recently unemployed and simply need assistance to make ends meet.

St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church offers an emergency food pantry at the church on Saturday mornings. Please call for more information and to confirm distribution times.

Crossroad Calvary Church's food pantry serves the eastside community.

Santa Teresa Food Pantry provide food, free of charge, to families and individuals in need.

Casa De Clara San Jose Catholic Worker distributes groceries to families in our neighborhood who are low-income and with sky-rocketing rents, have little left over for groceries and other basic necessities. We distribute food every Wednesday afternoon.

The Food Pantry at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church provides food to meet basic nutritional needs for individuals and families in need. Our clients are children, adults or senior citizens with limited or no income, who simply have fallen on hard times or recently unemployed and simply need assistance to make ends meet.

The Food Pantry is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Please call to confirm times before coming to the pantry.

Produce Mobile Program brings high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables on a refrigerated truck to people in need at various community and neighborhood locations.

Cityteam’s Community Services help meet the critical needs of those living below the poverty line in Santa Clara County by providing them with the resources they need to overcome the hardships they are facing and to break out of the cycle of poverty. Individuals and families are provided with donated goods including food boxes, backpacks, school supplies, diapers, hygiene items, clothing, household items and furniture.

Grocery program provides grocery bags to about 165 families each month. The bags are filled with nutritionally balanced items such as rice, beans, peanut butter, tuna fish, eggs, milk and fresh fruits and vegetables. Call 408-922-9085 to get services.

Low-income families must stretch their money as far as possible, which often means sacrificing the variety and nutritional value of food consumed. When a child's basic needs are not met, there are devastating consequences. Children from low-income families are at the highest risk for malnutrition, childhood obesity, poor mental health, and lack of energy. Hunger can have a negative effect on a child's school performance and ability to learn.

The Family Harvest Program addresses these concerns by providing free groceries to low-income families with children under the age of 26. Each family in the Program receives approximately 112 pounds of food per month (the equivalent of 3-4 bags of groceries).

The Food Bank's Community Nutritionists also provide materials to promote healthier eating habits among children and adults and offer special tastings of food items that might be unfamiliar to Family Harvest members. Newsletters contain information about various health and nutrition issues as well as delicious recipes and food preparation instructions. The newsletters are printed in multiple languages for our diverse client population.

No one should go through hunger. For this reason the Church of the Living God "The Good Shepherd" provides help to any person or family that lives in the city of San Jose, with a bag of food. Get your pantry bag for free. Distribution is the last Friday of each month from 7 PM to 9 PM. We also offer free blood pressure tests and workshops on health and healthy food preparation.

Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen distributes grocery bags to families in need on the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 10:00am - 11:30 am. The bags are filled with nutritionally balanced items such as rice, beans, peanut butter, tuna fish, eggs, milk and fresh fruits and vegetables.

We provide healthy food (including non-perishable, some produce and dairy) every 3rd Friday of the month.
We use a client-choice model, where clients may choose the food items they prefer. Available items vary, based on donations.
We serve anyone who attends the distribution, in person, and signs in. Expect the process to take up to 1.5 hours.

POSSO is a Second Harvest Food Bank distribution center. More than 100 bags of groceries are distributed to low-income individuals and families each week.

Through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, KACS brown bag program distributes a bag of nutritious groceries, such as rice, canned food, cereal, fruits, and vegetables, to low-income seniors over 60 and disabled individuals over 55 living in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

Our volunteers distribute the food every Thursday.

Through the Food Pantry ministry, the parishioners of St. Julie Billiart community embrace all people as children of God and reach out to care for those in need.

St. Maria Goretti Parish partners with the Family Harvest Program to strengthen the community and develop a safety net of food services by providing monthly food assistance to low-income families. We proudly serve San Jose residents by distributing food every 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Second Harvest Food Bank's Brown Bag Program provides nutritious groceries twice a month to low-income older adults (ages 60+) and disabled individuals (ages 55+) at distribution sites in Santa Clara County and San Mateo County.

Brown Bag participants also benefit from workshops and activities that focus on healthy eating, nutritious recipes, and food safety. Grow in faith and love, and Serve those in need of food, to the best of oo. The Lord's Pantry is a nonprofit, emergency food program run completely (except for the Director) by VOLUNTEERS. We arr an agency of the ​Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara County ​​​​​​​serving these ziip code areas: 95121, 94122, 95127, 95132, 95133, 95140 and 95148. On a monthly basis and by referral only, we provide three to five days of groceries based on the size of the family. This Pantry also offers a Second Helping program that allows groceries twice a month for those who qualify.

Recovery Café is founded on the belief that every human being is precious, worthy of love and deserving of the opportunities to fulfill his or her potential. In this loving community people who cannot afford long-term recovery services will come to belong, heal and know themselves as loved. In this sanctuary from the streets, the Café will help participants develop tools and access other community resources for stabilizng recovery. Meaningful daily activities and a positive community are powerful forces that help break the patterns and challenges of addiction, unemployment and homelessness. Meals: Lunch and dinner will be served daily. Meals are free to members. Shared meals will provide the opportunity for members to interact. Volunteering for the preparation, service and clean up for meals will also provide opportunities for service.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is the trusted leader dedicated to ending local hunger. Since its inception in 1974, Second Harvest has become one of the largest food banks in the nation, providing food to an average of nearly one quarter of a million people each month. The Food Bank mobilizes individuals, companies, and community partners to connect people to the nutritious food they need. Nearly half of the food distributed is fresh produce. Second Harvest also plays a leading role in promoting federal nutrition programs and educating families on how to make healthier food choices.

The Food Box Program is a major food distribution program offering various opportunities for parishioners to participate. Volunteers are needed to sort, pack, and distribute the food once per month. Volunteers can join us at any time. Food sorting is done on the third Monday of the month from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Food packing is on the third Friday of the month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the gym. Food Box delivery is offered to recipient individuals or agencies on an “as needed” basis

We provide services to all needy individuals, with special concern for families, senior citizens and homeless. Loaves & Fishes was founded in 1980 to fill a void in the community for these special populations. Our kitchens now serve meals five days each week at four locations. The number of guests has grown from the initial 11 guests served on February 15, 1980, to more than 400 people served daily. Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnic origin, religion, gender, age, handicap or sexual orientation. Thousands of people in the San Jose area woke up today hungry and homeless. For the poorest of the poor among us, this is real life. Living under bridges, rummaging through trash cans for scraps of food and desperately searching for other ways to survive. Many believe they are a throw-away society. Here at the Cityteam Rescue Mission we restore hope, faith and dignity to the homeless who are easily overlooked in our community. Every night our guests at the Rescue Mission are provided with hot, homecooked food. A hot meal is often the first step to helping a homeless person get off the streets. Our dinning hall serves men, women and children every night starting at 5:00 PM. At Cityteam, our desire is to see lives transformed. Sometimes that process begins with a hot nutritious meal or a night's shelter. But at it's heart, this ministry is about coming alongside needy people and helping them rebuild their lives.

Each day, staff and volunteers serve food to more than 400 families. We have two permanent food programs: a three-day supply called an emergency supplement, and an assortment of food for homeless customers that requires no prep or cooking. Customers can receive food twice a month. Each customer leaves with a grocery bag of nonperishable items, a 5 to 15 pound bag of produce, and a cold bag that consists of a meat product, eggs, a loaf of bread, and a package of tortillas. The agency also provides non-cooking bags to homeless customers and others who don't have a kitchen or are unable to cook. All the food in those bags are ready to serve and all cans have pop-tops that can be opened without a can opener. Pop-top protein items, such as meat soups and chili, are always a big need. Sacred Heart serves customers living in the following zip codes (which are subject to change): 95110, 95117, 95125, 95126, 95128 and 95134. Any customer not living in one of the above zip codes can come to Sacred Heart Community Service on a one-time basis for food. We then refer them to Second Harvest for additional services.

Through the Food Pantry ministry, the parishioners of St. Julie Billiart community embrace all people as children of God and reach out to care for those in need. In the last year, the food pantry has provided food to 1,200 to 1,400 people each month. In addition, 200 Christmas baskets were given out in 2010. We need your continued support in both food and monetary donations to make sure we can continue this vital service to the community.

Santa Maria Urban Ministry (SMUM) distributes food from supporters, including Second Harvest Food Bank, and Martha’s Kitchen, to about 1,800 people a month, half of whom are children.
