The state's search form we opened on November 4, 2026 at ClaimYourCashFL.gov asks for a last name and first name, not a Social Security number. You can add a city or property ID. A claim can ask for more, and the state says that may include Social Security verification.
Go to the official Florida search
The Division of Unclaimed Property, part of the Florida Department of Financial Services, runs the site and says searching and filing a claim directly with the state is always free. The state's new official site replaced FLTreasureHunt.gov, and the old address sent us to the new one.
Protect your Social Security number. Use the official site, and do not give your Social Security number to a third-party page or to anyone who calls, texts or emails you about unclaimed money.
Last checked: November 4, 2026. Benefits Explorer is a private directory, not a government agency. This page does not search for money. We do not take claims or decide who gets paid, and we never ask for your Social Security number.

How to Claim in Florida
- Search at ClaimYourCashFL.gov.
- File the Department's claim form and verify it.
- Send a copy of your ID or a notarized sworn statement with the form.
- The state says a claim is not filed until it receives your completed, signed claim form and required documents. Creating a claim online or getting a claim number does not count.
Proof You May Need
- A copy of a valid driver license. If you were never issued one, a copy of another government photo ID.
- Or a notarized sworn statement of your identity, full name and address, in place of photo ID. The notary must see photo ID.
- A claim filed without the ID or sworn statement is void.
Notary Rule
Under s. 717.124, a notarized sworn statement can replace a copy of your photo ID. For electronic claims of $2,000 or less, the Department may use another way to verify identity.
How Long a Claim Takes
The Department must decide a claim within 90 days after it gets the claim, or after it gets your response to a request for more information, whichever is later. It can add 60 days for good cause or certain situations. If you don't answer a request for more information within 60 days, the claim is treated as withdrawn.
When Money Goes to the State
Florida s. 717.102 uses a general five-year period, starting when the property becomes payable or distributable, unless another law sets a different one.
Finder Fees
Under s. 717.135 (2026 Florida Statutes), fees and costs for a claimant representative cannot exceed 30% of the claimed amount. Fees may be paid only after a filed claim is approved, and only if the representative used an authorized agreement. Under s. 717.124, a representative must be a registered Florida attorney, CPA or licensed private investigator.
This is general information, not legal advice. See the sources below, and contact legal aid before you sign an agreement you are unsure about.
